HOSTING OF ROTARY EXCHANGE STUDENTS FROM OVERSEAS

Each student who is nominated for the Rotary Youth Exchange creates an obligation to host a student in Exchange from another country. Each year therefore a Rotary Club requires the services of Host Families to provide accommodation for these students. District 3350 encourages each Rotary Club to provide every student with approximately four (4) Host Families. Having four (4) Host Families provide an opportunity for the student to experience a number of family situations and views of life.

The Host Families Role is to provide a safe family environment for the student on a day to day basis. The Rotary Club provides pocket money equivalent to approximately US $50 per month and is responsible for providing an extra curricula programme for the student outside the school environment. The student is responsible for their day to day toiletries, spending monies and any extra tours that may be offered. The student is required to attend school and to take part in any school programmes.

Each student has a counsellor allocated by the Rotary Club whose task it is to make sure that the exchange experience is a pleasant one for all concerned

A Host Family application form is available and when complete should be forwarded to your local Rotary Club or the District Youth Exchange Chairperson.
